Calling itself "The Biggest Loser Resort" has made this one popular place! This fairly new weight loss camp clearly has one goal in mind, to offer a comfortable place to lose weight. Not too much pushing and prodding here, but the Facilities & Activities are available to get you there should you have the will to make it happen!!!

Program Design: 3

There are actually a few major reasons as to why the program at Fitness Ridge got a medium review. This is a one size fits all weight loss program. There is a list of classes, etc to choose from, but you make up your own program by determining what you want to do. The testing here isn’t done for everyone unless you pay extra for it, and even then, they are missing some major components, so there isn’t customization on the food or fitness levels in any respect. If you are an exception, have injuries, health issues, want a scientific approach and customization, then this might not be the place for you. The main reason that I have a problem with this is in the marketing. You are not getting “The Biggest Loser” Program here.

Accommodations: 3

This is a beautiful desert location with mountains all around you. The facility is really new, as it’s only been open for a couple of years. This place, although not a “luxury” resort, does have a boutique resort feel to it. The guest rooms are your basic hotel room. I would give them a rating of a 3 star hotel. You’ve got everything you need, but they are not luxurious.

Activities/Services: 3.5

Fitness Ridge has a nice selection of basic services for an extra charge. There is not a state of the art body fat test, so that’s a biggie for me, as they can’t accurately determine how much pure body fat a person is losing (I’ve learned a lot on this journey), which means they can’t customize my diet accurately. This was a negative for me, but they made up for a negative review on this because they did offer an extensive list of other services from massage to acupuncture.

Staff: 3

Everyone here is really nice and as helpful as can be. The reason Staff is in the SO SO category, is that because of “The Biggest Loser” show, I expected there to be medical staff, physical therapists and I guess some coaching going on, like they do on the show. While the fitness instructors are good, they are not going to get you out of bed if you oversleep, or keep track of your program and set you up to go home, like they do at Live In Fitness Enterprise.

Cost: 4

The cost is the clincher here. This is the cheapest place out there. There isn’t much in the way of program design or personalization, but if you are looking for a budget fitness retreat, then this one offers the basics and is a “nice” choice.
