Nutrition at a Fitness Retreat
Every time you turn on the television or listen to the radio, there is a new diet being advertised. We have officially become obsessed with losing weight and getting healthier. Some just want to look good, and others literally have their lives on the line. So we follow diet after diet for 2-3 weeks at a time, until it gets too difficult to follow, or just plain boring. We find we gain the weight back, if any was lost at all. A true weight loss program is hard to come by. One that isn’t about merely discipline or how many glazed doughnuts to NOT have. What we need is a complete lifestyle change if our goals are doing to be achieved long term. What we need is a temporary getaway… a weight loss retreat where there are no outside distractions but instead a tremendous support system to teach us a whole new way of eating.
When we think of a fitness retreat we see ourselves getting in better shape and shedding a few pounds. What we don’t expect is getting guidance like nutrition education, goal setting, and life coaching. All are invaluable knowledge that we can take home with us when we return home and show friends and family. Nutrition at a fitness retreat is tailored to the individual. Meal plans are always well thought out, taking into consideration many factors such as weight, activity level, age, and overall lifestyle. While staying in a weight loss retreat, all of the meals are taken care of so the client can settle in and actually prepare for an entire lifestyle change while all of the nutrition is temporarily taken care of. The beauty of the “fat farm” is the education factor. It is surprising how much clients learn about nutrition upon leaving a fitness retreat. Why attend a high end weight loss get-away only to go home and gain the weight right back? While at the facility, the client learns why they’re given the meals they’re given in addition to suggestions on how to implement their very own weight loss retreat at home. This is usually done through one on one sessions with a nutritionist as well as group discussions and life coaching sessions.
It allows clients to discover themselves and their eating triggers on a whole new level, as well as getting support from fellow clients, and help each other with identity or self-esteem issues without even realizing it.
