A lot of children and young adults are showing their interest towards fat camps over the summer. The goal of all these camps are similar. Lose weight while having fun and most campers report significant weight loss apart from a great experience.
The good thing that differentiates these fat camps from less effective teen weight loss camps is not only the qualities of the facilities, the food and the stuff, but whether the camp experience leads to long term behavioral change.
Long term weight management program is available in certain fat camps where a person is 30 pounds overweight or has struggled to lose weight for more than 2 years. These long term weight management program is very effective in bringing out the best results.
These programs not only teach to lose weight but also the skills that are needed to keep their weight off in their busy lifestyle.
Good fat camps direct their program at changing behavior over the long term. To teach the campers new behaviors and habits; sports,activities and education are all part of these fat camps. The program also includes cognitive behavioral therapy for children because it is unlikely that a child's behavior will change completely over the course of a summer, let alone one month in the summer, a good fat camp will provide a follow-up or after-care program, checking in with kids and their families.
